Anam 141-142
141- HE (ALLAH) IS WHO CREATED CANOPIED GARDENS AND NOT CANOPIED ONES, AND PALM TREES, AND DIFFERENT PLANTS FOR EATING, AND OLIVES, AND POMEGRANATES, SIMILAR AND DISSIMILAR, EAT OUT OF ITS FRUIT WHEN IT BEARS FRUIT, AND GIVE ITS DUES THE DAY IT IS HARVESTED, AND DO NOT BE EXTRAVAGANT FOR HE (ALLAH) DOES NOT LOVE THE EXTRAVAGANT. 142- AND OF THE CATTLE THOSE WHO CARRY AND THOSE WHO DO NOT, EAT OUT OF WHAT ALLAH PROVIDED FOR YOU AND DO NOT FOLLOW THE STEPS OF SATAN, FOR HE IS A CLEAR ENEMY FOR YOU.
Allah the Highest is telling us and reminding us of the fact that Allah the Highest created the plants, crops, and fruit of various kinds, as well as animals for carrying and eating and milk. None of it is of our making, we just put the seeds God made, in the soil God created, and water it with the water God Created, which breathes the air God created. Some trees grow up high and others cruel on the ground. The crops and fruit are of many varieties, and every variety come of various varieties to. We see many kinds of mangos, pears, maize, wheat etc. We eat out of these crops and fruit; however the poor and needy has rights to this food too. This right is the Zakah, which should be measured out of the total Allah the Highest laid down. This Zakah should be taken out on the Day of the harvest for these reasons: - So that not only the owner of the crop will be pleased with his harvest, but also the poor and needy will also be pleased when others have a good harvest. - When one takes his harvest home, it is harder for us to take a portion out of it to give. - If the harvest is left for some time before the Zakah portion is taken out, some of it might be eaten, sold, or given away; which will reduce the share of the poor and needy. Allah the Highest does not bless the money or crop from which the Zakah was not paid. The word Zakah means to purify or purifying, which means that taking the Zakah out purifies the rest of the money or crop. Generosity is an amicable character, yet extravagance destroys the money, which results in both the rich and poor suffering. This is because the money, land and business of the rich have benefits for the whole community. It provides work for people, it provides products and crops, and from this come out Zakah for the poorer people. Therefore, to properly manage what we have benefits us and many people besides us. Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said: “Eat, drink, dress and give charity; without overspending of showing off”. (Bukhari) Of Allah’s bounties upon us is to give us animals to carry our loads, and to carry us long distances. Allah the Highest said: “AND TO CARRY YOUR HEAVY LOADS TO A COUNTRY YOU WOULD NOT HAVE REACHED EXCEPT WITH GREAT HARDSHIP”. (S: 16 A: 7) At present, we ride cars, buses, ships, trains and plans, while animals are still used a great deal in many countries, particularly in the countryside. We make these modern methods of transport from materials provided to us on Earth, and using mind Allah the Highest endowed us with. Allah the Highest wants us to use and enjoy the good things we have on earth without extravagance, and overspending, which when we do, we are following on the footsteps of Satan. Allah the Highest likes us to use His bounties and to show the evidence of His bounties on us, but without showing off and without sinning. We can never sin without using Allah’s bounties or money, power, health etc. Allah the Highest however does not give them to us for this purpose.
