Anam 146

146- AS FOR THOSE WHO ARE JEWISH; WE PROHIBITED ALL CREATURES WITH NAILS (CLAWS), AND OF THE COWS AND SHEEP WE HAVE FORBIDDEN ITS FAT FOR THEM, EXCEPT WHAT IS ON ITS BACK, INSIDE THEM, OR WHAT IS MIXED WITH BONES, THIS WAS A RECOMPENSE FOR THEIR TRANSGRESSION, AND WE ARE TRUTHFUL INDEED.

Allah the Highest tells us that He has forbidden the Jews eating some things other nations are allowed as a punishment for their acts of transgression.  They were forbidden the animals and birds which has nails has nails without a split.  They were also forbidden the fat of the cows and sheep, except what they carry on their backs, what is inside them, and what is mixed with bones. 

These food items are not forbidden for other nations and certainly not for the Muslims, as these prohibitions are punishment for the Jews for their transgressions against Allah’s limits and for their injustice.

When the Jews were forbidden some items of food, they did not eat it, but they grow that food and sold it to others, which was forbidden to them too.

Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said on the year Makah was taken: “Allah and His messenger have forbidden selling intoxicants, dead animals and Idles”.  He was asked: “What about the fat of the dead animals, for it is used to paint leather with, paint boats with and to light with?”  He said: “No it is forbidden”.  Then he said: “Allah cursed the Jews, for when they were forbidden its fats, they collected and sold it, and took its price”.  (Bukhari & Muslim)

And he said: “Allah cursed the Jews, for when they were forbidden fats, they sold it and took its price”.  (Bukhari & Muslim)

We should not sell or trade in prohibited items, like alcoholic drinks, drugs of abuse, pig, dead animals etc. 

Some of the Muslims in western countries might think it permissible to sell alcoholic drinks or pig’s meat to non-Muslims.  Selling what is forbidden is forbidden just like eating it.
