Araf 12

12- HE (ALLAH) SAID: “WHAT IS IT THAT PREVENTED YOU FROM PROSTRATING AS I COMMANDED YOU?”  HE (IBLIS) SAID: “I AM BETTER THAN HIM; YOU CREATED ME FROM FIRE AND CREATED HIM FROM CLAY”.

Allah the Highest asks any of His creations not because he needed their answer to know, for Allah the Highest knows what is hidden and what is revealed.  However, the answer to the question:

1-    They will be held to account for on the Day of Resurrection.

2-    For others to know, so that others may learn a lesson.

Iblis (Satan) stated the reason for his disobedience and not prostrating to Adam, and it was he thought that he was a better being, because he was made of fire, while Adam was made of clay.  He thought that fire is better than clay!!

This is not the case as fare as Allah the Highest is concerned, for Allah the Highest evaluate us according to our piety, not what we are made of or dressed with.

Even to human beings, gold is valuable and a common saying of the great value of something or someone is to say that they are” worth their weight in gold”.  However, we also know that a piece of fine are, antique or advanced technology can be worth much more than it’s weight in gold.

It is not for the creation to decide the value of different creations in comparison to each other, but this is for the creator to decide. 

The Arrogance expressed by Iblis is still practiced on earth in the form of Racial and Colour Discrimination.   Indeed in Racial and Colour Discrimination the arrogance of one group of people is based on the assumption that they are better than the others by virtue of their Colour of the skin, Place of Birth or any thing else, while they are all the same human beings.  Discrimination is also practiced by members of the same Religion or Country.  Allah the Highest said: “Allah does not look at your looks and shape, but looks at your hearts, piety is here, piety is here, and piety is here (Pointing to his heart).
