Araf 28-30

28- AND WHEN THEY COMMIT A WICKED SIN THEY SAY: “WE FOUND   FATHERS DOING THIS AND ALLAH COMMANDED US TO DO IT”.  SAY: “ALLAH DOES NOT COMMAND DOING WICKED SINS, DO YOU SAY WHAT YOU DO NOT KNOW CONCERNING ALLAH”.

29- SAY: “MY LORD COMMANDS THE UPHOLDING OF JUSTICE, AND TO BE STEADFAST IN SALAH AT EVERY MOSQUE, AND WORSHIP AND CALL UPON HIM SINCERELY IN FAITH, FOR AS HE MADE YOU BEGIN, YOU SHALL BE RESURRECTED”.

30- A GROUP IS RIGHTLY GUIDED AND A GROUP WILL BE TRULLY MISGUIDED, FOR THEY HAVE TAKEN THE DEVILS FOR CLOSE FRIENDS AND ALLIES INSTEAD OF ALLAH, AND THEY THINK THAT THEY ARE RIGHTLY GUIDED.

Before Islam the disbelievers had certain habits some people practiced concerning the Tawaf around the Kabba.   They used to do tawaf wearing new cloths, or cloth they did not do wrong while wearing, or cloth burrowed from one of the residents of Makah, otherwise men would do the Tawaf naked, and women cover their genitalia only.  They claimed that this is the tradition their forefathers practice and that they did that in obedience of Allah the Highest.  This is their answer.

Then Allah the Highest gives us a general rule, which is that Allah the Highest never commands people to do what is indecent or obscene.  Allah the Highest created every one with a basic sense of decency, which his heart accepts and rejects what is otherwise indecent.  Allah the Highest then regulated this with the laws stated in the religion.  Then people try to change our basic feelings considering them backward or uncivilized, and raising the banners of personal freedom, etc.  This happened with homosexuality, sex before marriage, usury, ideologies etc.  Man has always been able to justify and rationalize his wrong doings, but this will not work when facing His Lord.

There is in fact important dress code when going to a Mosque, regardless of whether they are going there to pray or listen to a lesson, the minimum of which is:

1-    To dress decently for both man and woman, man should be covering at least from his umbilicus to the knee, and woman covering her body except for the face and hands.

2-    To have washed all the body after impurities like the sexual intercourse, menstruation while having postnatal discharge.

3-    A person should not go to the mosque after having consumed intoxicants like alcoholic drinks and drugs of abuse.

Allah the Highest said about this in the next Ayah of the Quran
