137- THERE HAS BEEN EXAMPLES BEFORE YOU, SO WALK THROUGH THE EARTH AND WHAT WAS THE END OF THOSE WHO DENIED THE TRUTH.
138- THIS IS A CLEAR STATEMENT FOR MANKIND, AND GUIDANCE AND ADVICE FOR THE PIOUS.
139- AND DO NOT LOSS HEART AND DO NOT DESPAIR IF YOU ARE TRULY BELIEVERS.
140- IF YOU ARE HEART, THEY HAVE BEAN HURT LIKE YOU, AND WE ALTERNATE THESE DAYS BETWEEN PEOPLE, SO THAT ALLAH MAY KNOW THOSE WHO BELIEVE AND TO TAKE WITNESSES FROM AMONGST YOU, INDEED ALLAH DOES NOT LOVE THE UNJUST.
141- AND TO TRY AND TEST THOSE WHO DISBELIEVE AND TO ANNIHILATE THE DISBELIEVERS.
142- OR DID YOU THINK YOU WILL ENTER THE PARADISE WITHOUT ALLAH KNOWING THOSE WHO FOUGHT FOR HIS CAUSE AND KNOW THOSE WHO ARE PATIENT AND PERSEVERING.
143- YOU USED TO WISH DEATH BEFORE SEEING IT, NOW YOU HAVE SEEN IT WITH YOUR VERY EYES.
There is a great deal to learn from History and archeology. We look at the history of mankind, at the various people and empires, which were destroyed and did not last. Buildings might last for hundreds and thousands of years to show us that there were people and civilization there at one time, but they perished, were buried and replaced by others. Yet they left evidence of their presence which we find when we look through the earth. The Roman civilization perished so did the Persian and phareonic civilizations.
The same happen to Ideas and beliefs too. They perish and change and are replaced by others, when they go astray. We can see this when we travel through the earth too. Allah the Highest said: “DID THEY NOT TRAVEL THROUGH THE EARTH AND SEE WHAT WAS THE END OF THOSE WHO WERE BEFORE THEM? THEY WERE SUPERIOR TO THEM IN STRENGTH, AND LEFT STRONG REMAINS ON EARTH, YET ALLAH PUNISHED THEM BECAUSE OF THEIR SINS, AND THEY HAD NO PROTECTION FROM ALLAH * THIS IS BECAUSE THEIR MESSENGERS CAME TO THEM WITH THE CLEAR SIGNS, YET THEY DISBELIEVED, THEREFORE ALLAH PUNISHED THEM BECAUSE OF THEIR SINS, FOR HE IS MOST POWERFUL, AND STERN IN PUNISHMENT”. (S: 40 A: 21, 22)
Allah the Highest also said: “DID THEY NOT WALK THROUGH THE EARTH AND SEE WHAT WAS THE END OF THOSE BEFORE THEM? THEY WERE SUPERIOR IN STRENGTH AND LEFT STRONGER REMAINS ON EARTH, BUT WHAT THEY ACCOMPLISHED WITH NOT PROTECT THEM”. (S: 40 A: 82)
The disbelievers throughout the ages perish sooner or later and this we learn from looking at the past civilizations throughout the earth. Also their ideas and beliefs perish with them, only remains what tells us that they were their.
We all see monuments and ancient remains with interest, but we rarely take heed of what happened to those before us. These are clear signs for every one, but for the believers, it should also be guidance and advice.
“AND DO NOT LOSS HEART AND DO NOT DESPAIR IF YOU ARE TRULY BELIEVERS”.
Allah the Highest promises the believers that they will have the upper hand eventually in their struggle against disbelief. Yet this is conditioned by being True Believers. This means fulfilling the requirements of the believers, not just in faith, but also in deeds involving worshipping Allah the Highest and dealing with each other and the world outside.
“IF YOU ARE HEART, THEY HAVE BEAN HURT LIKE YOU, AND WE ALTERNATE THESE DAYS BETWEEN PEOPLE, SO THAT ALLAH MAY KNOW THOSE WHO BELIEVE AND TO TAKE WITNESSES FROM AMONGST YOU, INDEED ALLAH DOES NOT LOVE THE UNJUST”.
In struggles, one suffers. The suffering is bound to affect both sides of the struggle. However, those who believe in Allah the Highest should expect his reward and Paradise, while those who not believe do not expect or get such reward.
Allah the Highest has a policy on Earth which applies to believers and non-believers. Allah the Highest points some aspects of his policy:
1- AND WE ALTERNATE THESE DAYS BETWEEN PEOPLE, SO THAT ALLAH MAY KNOW THOSE WHO BELIEVE AND TO TAKE WITNESSES FROM AMONGST YOU, INDEED ALLAH DOES NOT LOVE THE UNJUST.
Allah the Highest gives some people at some time and give others at other times; some will be victorious sometime then others will be victorious. This tests and tries people. It tests our motives and determination. It tests the reasons for following one line or the other, one faith or the other. Gives people the opportunity to be just and to be unjust, to be good and to be bad, and then they will be judged.
2- “TO TAKE WITNESSES FROM AMONGST YOU”.
There will be witnesses of mankind on mankind for every time and every era and every where. They will witness the guidance people received and what they did with it.
3- “INDEED ALLAH DOES NOT LOVE THE UNJUST”.
Allah the Highest does not love the unjust to others or unjust to themselves. Unjust to others is by persecuting and maltreatment; and unjust to themselves by not believing and doing wrong.
4- “AND TO TRY AND TEST THOSE WHO DISBELIEVE AND TO ANNIHILATE THE DISBELIEVERS”
The believers and all those who say good things or those they are good, have to be tried and tested. Trial and testing will purify them, and strengthen them against adversities and difficulties which are bound to face them. In the mean time, trial and testing will strengthen them in the face of the disbelievers, who are destined to perish.
This is a process of purification of the believers, in the mean time punishment and annihilation of the disbelievers. This happened to all nations before us, happened, is happening and will continue to happen to the believers as long as there is belief and disbelief on Earth. This is test and qualification for entering Paradise. It will show the true believers who fight in the cause of Allah the Highest and are patient and persevere in his cause “OR DID YOU THINK YOU WILL ENTER THE PARADISE WITHOUT ALLAH KNOWING THOSE WHO FOUGHT FOR HIS CAUSE AND KNOW THOSE WHO ARE PATIENT AND PERSEVERING”.
Trial and testing those who believe is a must, and the prophets and messengers prayer and peace upon them are not spared. Any one who claims to believe, anyone who claims to have a worthy cause in life, are going to be tried and tested. Allah the Highest said: “DID PEOPLE THINK THAT THEY WILL BE LEFT FOR SAYING WE BELIEVE WITHOUT BEING TRIED AND TESTED * AND WE HAVE TESTED THOSE BEFORE THEM, SO THAT ALLAH MAY KNOW THOSE WHO ARE TRUTHFUL AND KNOW THE LIARS”. (S: 29 A: 2, 3)
The battle of Ohud was such a test. The Muslims that did not fight in the battle of Badr, as no battle was expected, were very keen to fight their enemy like those who fought. Yet, facing fighting and death directly was different.
The battle of Ohud also teaches us that fighting in the cause of Allah requires absolute obedience of Allah the Highest, His messenger and the army leaders. There is no room for disobedience and dissent. We have a good example in Abu Bakr El-Seddique the first man to become a Muslim, and Omar Ibn El-Khatab who was one of the early Muslims. They went out in an army under the leadership of Khalid Ibn El-Waleed, who was a new Muslim then. They totally obeyed Khalid, who also led them in the Salah.
Yet, Allah the Highest does not wish us to wish to fight and die, unless we have no choice, but when we have to fight, we should be patient and persevere. Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said: “Do not wish to meet then enemy, but ask Allah for safety and strength, but when you meet them (the enemy) be patient and persevere, and know that the Paradise is under the shadows of the swords”.
