152- AND ALLAH DID FULFILL HIS PROMISE TO YOU, AS YOU KILL THEM, WITH HIS PERMISSION, UNTIL YOU LOST HEART, DIFFERED AMONG YOURSELVES AND DISOBEYED AFTER ALLAH HAS SHOWN YOU WHAT YOU LIKE. OF YOU THOSE WHO DESIRE THE LOWER LIFE AND OF YOU THOSE WHO DESIRE THE HEREAFTER. THEN HE MADE YOU TURN AWAY FROM THEM TO TRY YOU, AND ALLAH PARDONED YOU, FOR ALLAH IS BOUNTIFUL TO THE BELIEVERS.
153- AS YOU TURN AWAY, NOT CARING FOR ANY ONE, WHILE THE MESSENGER IS CALLING YOU FROM YOUR REAR, THEREFORE ALLAH AFFLICTED YOU WITH ONE STRESS AFTER ANOTHER, SO THAT YOU MAY NOT GREIF FOR WHAT YOU MISSED OR WHAT AFFLICTED YOU, AND ALLAH KNOWS WELL ALL YOU DO.
More lessons from the Battle of Ohud.
Allah the Highest fulfilled his promise to the Muslims then, supporting them against the disbelievers. The Muslims defeated the disbeliever’s army, killing more than seventy of them and sending them running away in retreat.
Once the Muslims and it was only 50 of them, disobeyed Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, Allah the Highest withdraw His support. These errors were:
1- The archers on the mountain of Ohud disobeyed Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, in leaving their stations to collect the bounty when they saw their army winning.
2- Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, told the Muslims not to collect any bounty until the battle was over, but they did not obey.
3- Many of the Muslims lost heart and stopped fighting when they heard the rumour that Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, had been killed.
4- When the Muslim’s army was under attack from the rear, many Muslims ran away and did not answer Allah’s messenger calls for them to return to the battle field.
Allah the Highest tested the Muslim army by victory as well as defeat. When they were winning and defeated their enemy, which was running through their town camp, they disobeyed Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, stopped to collect the spoils of war. Then when the Muslims were defeated, they ran away and did not respond to Allah’s messenger’s calls for them to return to the battle field.
The Muslims were also afflicted by what happened to Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, he was attacked, injured and almost killed. This was the second distress after the distress of the defeat. They saw that they could have lost Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, which would have been much worse that just losing a battle.
Many Muslims rushed to the aid of Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, when they saw that he was targeted for attack by the disbelievers. Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, fought off the attackers, and killed some of them, other Muslims did too, and some Muslims were martyred fighting his attackers. One of the Muslims protected Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, with his body until his back was pierced with many arrows.
Abu Obidah Ibn El-Garah fought fiercely defending Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him. When Allah’s messenger’s helmet pierced both his cheeks, Abu Obidah pulled the sides of his helmet out with his teeth, losing a tooth himself every time he pulled it from a cheek. When Abu Obidah was travelling after Allah’s messenger’s life, he met some people who mocked his lisp due to the missing teeth, Abu Obidah said to them: “This is the part of me I love most”.
“AND ALLAH KNOWS WELL ALL YOU DO”
Allah the Highest knows every thing we do and treats us accordingly. Therefore, whenever one feels that Allah the Highest abandoned him or her, one should look at their own actions, to see how could one have displeased or disobeyed Allah the Highest. When we find out our error, we should do our best to be true submitters.
