155- THOSE OF YOU WHO TURNED AWAY WHEN THE GROUPS MET, IT WAS SATAN WHO TEMPTED THEM BECAUSE OF SOME OF THE THINGS THEY DID. ALLAH HAS PARDONED THEM, FOR ALLAH IS MOST FORGIVING AND MOST FORBEARING.
156- YOU WHO BELIEVE; DO NOT BE LIKE THOSE WHO DISBELIEVE AND SAY TO THEIR BROTHERS IF THEY TRAVEL TROUGH THE EARTH, OR FIGHT: “IF THEY WERE WITH US, THEY WOULD NOT HAVE DIED OR GOT KILLED”. ALLAH WILL MAKE THIS REGRET IN THEIR HEARTS FOR ALLAH GIVES LIFE AND DEATH AND ALLAH SEES ALL YOU DO WELL.
157- INDEED, IF YOU DIE OR GET KILLED IN THE CAUSE OF ALLAH, THE FORGIVENESS FROM YOUR LORD AND HIS MERCY ARE BETTER THAN WHAT THEY MAY GATHER (IN THIS LIFE)
158- FOR IF YOU DIE OR ARE KILLED, YOU WILL BE TAKEN TOGETHER TO ALLAH.
Some of the Muslims ran away when they felt the attack from the rear and the front. Satan whispered into their hearts and they responded to his whispers, the reason for their weakness was some of the sins they had done. If a person commits sins, it makes him more likely to commit others, for it weakens his/her resistance to the whispers and temptations of Satan.
However, Allah the Highest pardoned them, out of His Mercy. In the meantime, and out of Allah’s Mercy, Allah the Highest put peace and tranquility into their hearts and made them feel sleepy and slumber in this difficult situation, which allowed them to rest and recover.
Allah the Highest forbids us thinking that we can save ourselves from death if we go to certain place or protect ourselves or not fight in His Cause. Had they stayed at their homes, they would have died at the same time, and they would have had to go the same place to die.
Yet, we all have to die. Dying in Allah’s cause is to be martyred. The Martyrs have a very high status before Allah the Highest, and they live in the Paradise; as Allah the Highest said: “ AND DO NOT THINK THAT THOSE KILLED IN THE CAUSE OF ALLAH ARE DEAD, BUT THEY ARE ALIVE AND PROVIDED FOR WITH YOUR LORD”. (S: 3 A: 169)
The martyr is rewarded by Allah’s Forgiveness and Mercy, which is better than any thing we may earn or gather in this life. Allah’s Forgiveness and Mercy are not only for the martyr, but also for his blood relations. Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, said: “The martyr has six things due to him from Allah; he will be forgiven in the first group to be forgiven, he will be shown his place in Paradise, he will be saved from the greatest distress (on the Day of Resurrection), he will be crowned with the crown of dignity each emerald in it is better than this Earth and all there is in it, he will be married to seventy two Hoor El-Ean, and will be allowed to intercede for seventy of his blood relations”. (T: Fadael Al-Jihad; 25 & Ma: Jihad; 16 & a: 4; 131; 200)
It is because of the great status of the martyr, that Allah the Highest mentioned him/her as the third of the four Allah the Highest Has His bounty upon, saying: “WHOEVER OBEYS ALLAH AND THE MESSENGER, THEY ARE WITH THOSE ALLAH HAS HIS BOUNTY UPON, OF THE PROPHETS, THE SIDDIQEEN (VERY SINCERE IN FAITH), THE MARTYRS AND THE RIGHTEOUS, AND WHAT AN EXCELLENT COMPANY THEY ARE”.
