172- THOSE WHO RESPONDED TO ALLAH AND THE MESSENGER AFTER THEY WERE AFFLICTED. FOR THOSE WHO DO GOOD AND ARE PIOUS THERE IS A GREAT REWARD.
173- THOSE TO WHOM PEOPLE SAID: “PEOPLE HAVE GATHERED FOR YOU, YOU SHOULD FEAR THEM”, THEY SAID: “ALLAH IS SUFFICIENT SUPPORTER FOR US, AND HE IS THE BEST AID”
174- THEREFORE THEY RETURNED WITH THE GRACE OF ALLAH AND WITH HIS BOUNTY, HAVING SUFFERED NO HARM, AND THEY DID WHAT PLEASES ALLAH, FOR ALLAH HAS THE GREATEST BOUNTIES.
175- THIS IS SATAN FRIGHTENING HIS ALLIES. DO NOT FEAR THEM BUT FEAR ME, IF YOU ARE TRUE BELIEVERS.
Allah the Highest is still telling us about the battle of Ohud, and about the Muslims who acted in accordance to Allah’s pleasure.
“THOSE WHO RESPONDED TO ALLAH AND THE MESSENGER AFTER THEY WERE AFFLICTED. FOR THOSE WHO DO GOOD AND ARE PIOUS THERE IS A GREAT REWARD”
This Ayah describes two groups of people; the first is included in the second:
1- Those who rallied around Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him when he came under attack, and defended him.
2- Those who went out the day after the battle to meet the disbeliever’s army if they turn back on Medina. Many of them were injured as well as tired or grieving for the men they lost. Yet, they went out responding to Allah’s messenger’s command.
“THOSE TO WHOM PEOPLE SAID: “PEOPLE HAVE GATHERED FOR YOU, YOU SHOULD FEAR THEM”, THEY SAID: “ALLAH IS SUFFICIENT SUPPORTER FOR US, AND HE IS THE BEST AID”
These are the 700 men who went out fighting and did not turn back halfway like the other 300 men who turned back. The threat of the big army marching to them made their faith even stronger, and they trusted Allah the Highest to be their Ally, then they need no further help. When they obeyed Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him they defeated the disbelievers, and then when they disobeyed him they were defeated. When they obeyed Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him and went out to fight again the day after the battle, the disbelievers turned back and Allah the Highest spared them the fight.
“THIS IS SATAN FRIGHTENING HIS ALLIES. DO NOT FEAR THEM BUT FEAR ME, IF YOU ARE TRUE BELIEVERS”
Satan frightens the believers of fighting, of dying and of their enemy. Yet, they believers should only fear Allah the Highest if they are true believers. This is because the believer’s ally is Allah the Highest and in the mean time He punishes them for their disobedience. No one should be feared like Allah the Highest, for if the believer dies fighting, he goes to paradise, and if he turns his back on the enemy he is severely punished. Allah the Highest said: “YOU WHO BELIEVE, IF YOU MEET THOSE WHO DISBELIEVE IN BATTLE, DO NOT TURN YOUR BACKS TO THEM * AND HE WHO TURNS HIS BACK TO THEM ON THAT DAY, UNLESS HE IS PREPARING TO FIGHT OR TO JOIN A GROUP OF YOU, HE HAS INCURRED ALLAH’S WRATH, AND HIS ABODE IS THE HELL-FIRE, AND AN EVIL DESTINY IT IS”.
