200- YOU WHO BELIEVE, BE PATIENT, PERSEVERE, ENDURE, BE STATIONED, AND GUARD YOURSELVES FROM ALLAH’S DISPLEASURE, SO THAT YOU MAY SUCCEED.
This is the last Ayah of Sorah Ale-Emran. Allah the Highest is telling us the way to success. These are lessons from this battle and it is the way to success in any situation and any circumstances.
1- BE PATIENT, PERSEVERE.
This has been discussed in detail in Ayah 153 of Sorah El-Baqarah. In short to be patient and persevere in doing what we should do. In the mean time, to be patient and persevere in abstaining from what we should not be doing.
2- ENDURE.
It is enduring the responsibilities and burdens of the true believers, in the mean time enduring all the hurt which may come to us from the disbelievers. Endurance is not easy, for it is an ongoing process.
3- BE STATIONED.
Is to be in the places of responsibility and stay there ready for doing one’s duty. This means two things:
a- To be stationed in the mosques for Salah. This does not mean staying in the mosque all the time, but at the time of Salah, and looking forwards to it. Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said: “Shall I tell you about a deed for which Allah will blot out your sins, and raise your status?” They said: “Yes Allah’s messenger”. He said: “To wash thoroughly for wadoo despite difficulties, and waiting for a Salah after another, this is being stationed, this is being stationed”. (B:Taharah;41 & T:Taharah;39 & N:Taharah;106 & Mal:Safar;59 & A:2;277,303)
b- To be stationed ready to fight in the cause of Allah. This is greatly rewarded by Allah the Highest. Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said: “All the pleasures of the Hereafter will belong to the slave of Allah who took the rains of his horse in the cause of Allah, his head scruffy and his feet dusty. When on guard, he will be guarding, and with marching soldiers, he will be marching, when asking for permission, permission is denied, and when her intercedes, his intercession is not accepted”. (B:Jihad;59)
To be stationed a day in the cause of Allah is better than worshipping a whole month, fasting by day and praying by night. Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said: “To be stationed prepared to fight in the cause of Allah is better than fasting by day and praying by night for a month”. (M: Emarah; 163 & T: Fadael Al-Jihad, 26 & N: Jihad; 39)
Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him also said: “To be stationed prepared for fighting in the cause of Allah is better than this world and all there is in it”. (B: Jihad; 72 & T: Fadael Al-Jihad; 26)
Indeed Allah the Highest promised those who stay on guard all night and do not sleep, that the Fire will never touch their eyes. Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said: “Two kinds of eyes will not be touched by the Fire, an eye which wept fearing Allah, and an eye guarding overnight in the cause of Allah”. (T: Fadael Al-Jihad; 12)
A soldier dying while stationed in the cause of Allah, will have this good deed credited to his book until the Day of Resurrection. Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said: “The book of deeds of every dead person is sealed, except for the book of he who dies stationed ready to fight in the cause of Allah. His deeds will be increased for him to the day of resurrection and he will be saved from the trial of the grave”. (T: Fadael Al-Jihad; 2 & D: Jihad; 15 & Da: Jihad; 32)
4- AND GUARD YOURSELVES FROM ALLAH’S DISPLEASURE, SO THAT YOU MAY SUCCEED.
Guarding ourselves from Allah’s displeasure is a required part in any deed done to obey or please Allah the Highest. It is the hallmark of the righteous and pious. Without it, good deeds will never be complete. This is the start of the road to success.
