44- DID YOU NOT SEE THOSE WHO WERE GIVEN A SHARE OF THE BOOK, THEY BUY MISGUIDANCE AND WISH YOU TO BE MISGUIDED OF THE STRAIGHT PATH.? 45- BUT ALLAH KNOWS YOUR ENEMIES BEST, FOR ALLAH IS SUFFICIENT FOR AN ALLY AND SUFFICIENT FOR A SUPPORTER. 46- AND OF THOSE WHO ARE JEWS THOSE WHO TAKE THE WORDS OUT OF THEIR CONTEXT, AND THEY SAY: “WE HEAR AND WE DISOBEY” AND “HEAR, YOU MAY BE BEREFT OF HEARING” AND “RAENA” TWISTING THEIR TONGUES, AND INSULTING THE RELIGION. IF THEY SAY: “WE HEAR AND WE OBEY AND LISTEN TO US AND LOOK AT US”, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER FOR THEM AND MORE PROPER. BUT ALLAH CURSED THEM BECAUSE OF THEIR DISBELIEF, ONLY FEW OF THEM BELIEVE. 47- YOU WHO HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE BOOK, BELIEVE IN WHAT WE SENT DOWN CONFIRMING WHAT YOU HAVE, BEFORE WE OBLITERATE FACES AND TURN THEM BACKWARDS, OR CURSE THEM AS WE CURSED THE SABBATH BREAKERS, FOR ALLAH’S COMMAND WILL BE CARRIED OUT.
In these Ayahs, Allah the Highest is addressing the people of the book, which are the Jews and the Christians. They reject the guidance sent to mankind including them with Mohamed prayer and peace upon him. Indeed, they wish us to be misguided too. Allah the Highest said: “NEVER WILL THE JEWS OR THE CHRISTIANS BE PLEASED WITH YOU UNLESS YOU FOLLOW THEIR CREED, SAY: “ALLAH’S GUIDANCE IS THE RIGHT GUIDANCE”. AND IF YOU FOLLOW THEIR DESIRES AFTER HAVING THE KNOWLEDGE WHICH CAME TO YOU, YOU WILL NEVER FIND IN ALLAH NEITHER AN ALLY NOR A HELPER”. (S:2 A:120) Allah the Highest is our Ally and Supporter, and He knows our enemies and warns us of them. The Jews pervert Allah’s words, taking it out of context, in order to mislead and misguide. This is very wrong, not just for the Jews, but also for some Muslims who do it. We should never quote the Quran and Hadith out of context or make interpretations according to our interests and inclinations. Allah the Highest sent us the guidance in the Quran and Hadith not to suite us, but to correct our ways and put us on right road to Allah. Allah the Highest also refers to what the Jews used to do when they spoke to Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him.
