78- WHEREVER YOU ARE, DEATH REACHES YOU, EVEN IF YOU ARE IN HIGH STRONG TOWERS. IF SOMETHING GOOD BEFALLS THEM, THEY SAY: THIS IS FROM ALLAH, AND IF SOMETHING BAD BEFALLS THEM, THEY SAY: THIS IS FROM YOU. SAY: ALL IS FROM ALLAH. WHY DO THIS PEOPLE NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT IS BEING SAID?
79- WHATEVER GOOD BEFALLS YOU IS FROM ALLAH AND WHATEVER BAD BEFALLS YOU IS FROM YOURSELF. WE SENT YOU A MESSENGER TO MANKIND, AND ALLAH IS SUFFICIENT FOR A WITNESS.
Allah the Highest is telling us a very important fact. It is that our life and term of existence in this life on earth is determined and decided by Allah the Highest, regardless of how one dies. No degree of protection or caution can stop death at the appointed time. Therefore, the Muslim should not fear fighting in the cause of Allah, as it will not shorten his life; neither will not fighting lengthen it.
Om Habiba, Allah’s messenger’s wife and Abu Sofian’s daughter was saying: “Allah let me enjoy the long life of my husband Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him and my father Abu Sofian and my brother Muawiah”. Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said to her: “You have asked Allah about life terms that are decided, and they are only few numbered days and about provisions that are decided before hand. Nothing will happen before the time fall, nor will it be postponed after it is due. You could have asked Allah to protect you from the punishment of the Fire and the punishment of grave, it would have been better for you” (A: 1; 390,413,433,445,466)
Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him also said: “Allah appointed an angel for the womb: ‘My Lord, it is semen’ then ‘My Lord it is like a worm’ then ‘My Lord it is like a chewed up meat’, then if Allah wants to bring it’s creation to completion, he says: ‘My Lord, male or female? Will it be happy or unhappy? What is his provision? What is its life’s term? Then it will be written like that while still in his mother’s belly”. (B: Qadar; 6 & M: Qadar; 4, 5 & A: 3; 116,148,397)
The only things which may increase a persons life tern are being righteous and being good to his blood relatives, for Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said: “Nothing turns fate away except Dawaa, and nothing increases life span except righteousness with charity”. (Ma: Moqademah; 10 & T: Qadar; 6 & A: 5; 277,280,282)
Also Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said: “Whoever likes for his provisions to increase and for his life span to be lengthened, let him be good to his blood relations”. (B: Beyo; 12, 13 & M: Ber; 20, 21 & D: Zakah; 45)
Otherwise, one will die at the allotted time for his death, regardless of the reason.
The hypocrites blamed Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him for what happened in the battle of Ohud, and said that only good things come from Allah the Highest. Allah the Highest answers them and their claims, telling them that every thing that happens to them happens with Allah’s permission.
However, Allah the Highest is telling the hypocrites and the believers, that whatever bad things befall them, it is because of their own deeds. Nothing evil comes to the Muslim from Allah the Highest, even what seems to be bad.
Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said: “I am amazed by what happen to the believer, when something good comes to him and he expresses thanks and gratitude to Allah and if afflicted he praised Allah and was patient, the believer is rewarded in every event, even in putting food in his wife’s mouth”. (A: 1; 173,177,183 3:117,184)
All that happens to the Muslim is good for him, Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said: “Thee is not a Muslim who suffers tiredness or illness, trouble, sadness or grief, even a spike pricking him, without Allah forgiving him of his sins”. (B:Marda;1,3 & M:Ber;46-48 & T:Janaez;1 & Mal:Ein;6 & A:1;441)
Indeed, Allah the Highest may afflict people to send them to Paradise. Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said: “Our Lord is amazed by people who are lead to Paradise in the Chains”. (B: Jihad; 144 & D: Jihad; 114 & A: 2; 302; 406)
Allah the Highest may afflict those He loves to clear their sins. Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said: “Allah afflicts those He desires goodness for”. (B: Marda; 2)
Although affliction may be due to our sins and wrong deeds; yet it carries within it Mercy and Forgiveness from Allah the Highest. The bad we feel in affliction is good for us if we are patient and persevere. Affliction contains a great deal of goodness, and goodness may contain a great deal of evil for us if not used properly.
